Movie trailer

Trailer for Stefan Jarl’s acclaimed documentary about chemicals and what they can do with humans. Submission (Swedish: Underkastelsen) is a compelling 2010 Swedish documentary directed, written, and produced by Stefan Jarl, and narrated by Stellan Skarsgård

In the film, Jarl undergoes blood tests to reveal the ”chemical burden”—the accumulation of countless synthetic chemicals—in his body, a burden shared by people born since World War II  He invites actressEva Röse, who is pregnant, to be tested as well, highlighting the transfer of these toxins to the unborn.

The documentary examines the vast number of everyday chemicals—such as phthalates, flame retardants (PBDE), and surfactants (PFOS, PFOA)—and raises critical questions about why society continues to expose itself to potentially hazardous substances despite mounting evidence of their harm
